Free Shapes Tracing Books

Our shapes colouring pages for toddlers are friendly, smiling shapes that a two- or three-year-old can trace with a crayon and then colour in. The book is a free printable PDF, with one big shape per page and plenty of white space.

Shapes are everywhere in a child's day: a round plate, a square window, a star on a night-light, a heart on a card. Tracing one big shape and then spotting it in the room is a simple, playful way to start talking about them. You say the name, your child traces and colours, and together you go looking.

The book:

It shows "Age 2–4" on the cover. Each page has Name and Date lines, and a "Super Star Learner!" certificate comes at the end. Print the A4 PDF (or US Letter in the US and Canada) at 100% scale, in colour or black and white.

Tips: start with the circle pages, say each shape's name out loud (the names are not printed), and keep it to a page or two. Praise the trying rather than perfect lines. For a triangle and a hexagon, see the six-shape page in Pencil Practice on our tracing page.
