These Tamil alphabet (ezhuthukkal) tracing worksheets put the first தமிழ் எழுத்துக்கள் in one free PDF: 31 activity pages, one letter per page. Your child traces a big dashed letter, looks at a picture with its Tamil word, then traces and writes the letter again.
What's inside: the 12 uyir ezhuthukkal அ ஆ இ ஈ உ ஊ எ ஏ ஐ ஒ ஓ ஔ, the aaytham ஃ, and the 18 mei ezhuthukkal க ங ச ஞ ட ண த ந ப ம ய ர ல வ ழ ள ற ன. Following the Tamil Nadu Class 1 convention, each consonant is traced in its base form (க), with the pulli form (க்) printed small as "மெய் எழுத்து". Picture words include ச சக்கரம், ஞ ஞாயிறு, ய யானை and வ வாத்து. Some letters appear inside a word: ட in பட்டம், ழ in மாம்பழம் and ன் in மீன். ஔ and ஃ have no picture: a Tamil line says ஔ comes in very few words, and names ஃ as the aaytham letter. Headers are in English. The book is about these 31 letters only: the 216 uyirmei letters (கா, கி…) and Grantha letters are not part of it. It ends with a certificate.
Age: the cover says Age 2–4.
How to print: choose the A4 PDF (or US Letter in the US and Canada), print at 100% scale ("actual size"), in colour or black and white.
Tips for parents:
- Say the letter and its word aloud together: "ய, யானை".
- One or two letters a day is plenty. Praise the trying, not neatness.
It sits with our other alphabet books. Learning Hindi as well? Hindi Varnamala: Swar and Hindi Varnamala: Vyanjan are Hindi books in Devanagari script with Hindi words, not Tamil. App guide: Little Messages. Get the Chunnu Ji app on Google Play.
