These Bengali alphabet (barnamala) tracing worksheets put the whole বাংলা বর্ণমালা in one free PDF: 50 activity pages, one letter per page, in the order of the current West Bengal primary school chart (the WBBPE "আমার বই" and Bangla Academy order). Your child traces a big dashed letter, looks at a picture with its Bengali word, then traces and writes the letter again.
What's inside: the 11 swarabarna অ আ ই ঈ উ ঊ ঋ এ ঐ ও ঔ, then the byanjanbarna from ক to হ, followed by ড় ঢ় য় ৎ ং ঃ ঁ, 39 consonants in all. Picture words include দ দরজা, য যমজ, ষ ষাঁড়, স সাপ and র রকেট. Each page also has rows of letters to trace and boxes to write in, with the instruction "Trace the big letter, then write it!". ঞ, ঢ় and ঐ have no picture: a Bengali line says no Bengali word starts with ঞ or ঢ়, and very few start with ঐ. ঙ ণ ড় য় ৎ appear inside a word (আঙুর, হরিণ, ঘুড়ি, ময়ূর, বিদ্যুৎ), and ং ঃ ঁ are named and shown in আংটি, দুঃখ and পেঁচা. Conjuncts (including ক্ষ), vowel signs and Bengali numbers are not included. The book ends with a certificate.
Age: the cover says Age 2–4. Younger children can trace just the big letter and leave the boxes for later.
How to print: choose the A4 PDF (or US Letter in the US and Canada), print at 100% scale ("actual size"), in colour or black and white.
Tips for parents:
- Say the letter and its word aloud together: "স, সাপ".
- One or two letters a day is plenty. Praise the trying, not neatness.

Which letter order does it follow?
The West Bengal primary school chart (WBBPE "আমার বই" / Bangla Academy). It is not the Bangladesh board chart.
Does it include ক্ষ, conjuncts or vowel signs?
No. Each page shows one letter on its own; ক্ষ and other conjuncts, vowel signs and Bengali numbers are not in this book.
Is this a Hindi book?
No. The letters, the order and the picture words are Bengali. Our two Hindi Varnamala books are separate.
